Life Lately: updates, painting, playing, sickies

Oh sweet Tater Tot, you are more and more hilarious every day.  In the above picture we were supposed to be going to bed after bath, but you asked to go play babies in the basement and I couldn't refuse.  You grab my face and say, "listen to me mama!" You tell me, "just a minute" when I ask to change your diaper.  You make the best connections when we are reading books!  (My favorite books to read to you are the Fancy Nancy because you are so into them and you help Nancy problem solve: Maybe she could put the cupcakes up there mom....Maybe she could break it in half mom...) You like to know the letters in things, "what the letters her name mom?" Today we went to lunch and you asked for a lemon took a bite, squinted, scoured, nodded your head no, and said "yum!" You love to put your hand on your hip and turn away from me and tell me no.  Sometimes you stomp your foot and cross your arms too.

Oh Sweet Isla, you are writing up a storm.   You have never stuck with something for a long time, besides being daddy's helper or my partner in crime...but wow do you love to write.  You make and read your own 'books', you make lists, we play library and you write down the beginning sounds of book titles I want to check out.  You are making this kindergarten teaching mama proud!  (And I am proud of my mom (grandma) for teaching her all of this--not her kindergarten teaching mama...ha!) DeCola cousins were over the other night and you read all of Creepy Carrots to them with great inflection and intonation.  You love to make a cross eyed face and make your sister laugh.  You love to tell jokes and stories (not sure where she gets that!) and you act so grown up with what you say.   You have developed a bit of an "I'm getting older attitude," which we are working through and most likely work through from here on out.

The sister room is going well.  They chat in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night before finally settling in.  Poor Tater's has missed quite a few afternoon naps because she will get her second wind playing with Isla, but for the most part it has been pretty smooth sailing.  It really was great timing with their ages and they are becoming better and better friends each day because of the extra time they get to have together.  We love listening to them at night banter back and forth.  They love to sleep with each other and when Tater's and I were  sick the other night and slept with me in my bed Isla missed her in the morning.  Brandon built a new bench in our kitchen and those girls couldn't sit closer to each other.  The girls love to ride bikes together at the end of our street, lick cookie dough spoons together, and work together (see below for Isla cutting up a banana for Taters with a knife).

Favorite shows: Paw Patrol, Bernstein Bears, and Letter Factory DVD (at grandma's every Tuesday--highly recommend it!)

Bedtime routine: Jammies, teeth, 2 books with me.  Bible, devotion, and songs (with hand motions--it is too cute) with daddy)

Favorite food/snacks: Isla-fruit, fruit, fruit, granola bars, dry sugar cereal (kix, fruit loops, etc.)
Taters-raisins, goldfish, eggs, mac n cheese, milky

Favorite things to do: play library, go to the lafayette library, ride bikes, play babies and doctor, color, have dance party to shake it off, go to Home Depot with daddy

Painting our main floor Stonington Gray (a blue gray)

Bad Colds for the little girls and ear infection for Taters one week, then stomach stuff for Tatum and I a week later.

Tatum says, "Oh Man!" If she doesn't make a match and will often quit after she makes the pink match.  Isla, so sweetly, will give the pink to her if she gets it and Tater's will convince her to by showing Isla how she has pink on her shirt or jammies so "It Matches!"

Day Date: Orange out CSU basketball game
