If the Carlucci's were in charge of calendars we would run ours from Spring Break to Spring Break. This is how I measure time. We look forward to this trip every year and it never disappoints. Yes we still drive and yes it is still a vacation with kids, but having done it so much and having the perspective of what it was like to go when they were still little little, it just keeps getting more fun and easier!
We left the snow in Colorado....
We stopped in Alamosa for a night on Friday and then at the crack of 3:45 a.m. we loaded up and headed out!
This isn't our first rodeo so when we pull in we have our pool bag ready to go even though our room is not ready yet. Do you see that sting ray that Tater's is sitting on? That would be her Sting Razor and she got that because I pitched a fit upon arrival when we found out that they added a new rule about the water slide which previously had no rules. She was too short and couldn't even go with an adult!!! What?!?! This mama was not happy and I told the girl in charge that all we talked about for the last few months and the last THIRTEEN HOURS IN THE CAR was how the first thing we were going to do was go down that slide! I simmered down and apologized, but Tater's got a free Sting "Razor" and a snow cone out of the deal. She LOVED that Sting Razor and was fiercely protective of it the entire week.
We requested our same rooms again because of the great little meeting area for the crew! We can see them while they play from our patio.
One of my favorite parts is walking every where...especially starbucks! Check out all those shades!

*Meanwhile back in Colorado there was a HUGE over 2 feet of snow storm that rocked the state. I took the week off of school so my school had 2 snow days!!! Crazy!?!

This night Tater's announced that she now can say her /c/ sound. She self monitors her own speech development. Glad she is on top of it. She can write her own IEP speech goals at school.
Aunt Gretchen got the girls an Easter bunny.

Tater's got her swimming confidence after our midnight swim one night (7 pm). She thought she was pretty hot stuff that night, so she was all about swimming the next day.
Isla did an AMAZING belly flop to nab herself a snow cone for the 5-7 age group
Daddy won himself a margarita. (Isla marched right over and signed herself up and told the worker to sign her daddy up too! He didn't even know she did!)
Pure cuteness. We were heading over to float the lazy river and order a drink at the pull up bar that you can bungee your tube up to order and float with your drink. The girls of course like the strawberry smoothie.

Heading home....we left again at 3:30 this time and a couple hours in we got pulled over. 50 in a 35 construction zone. The girls slept through the whole thing and the nice older policeman gave us a warning stating he remembers those days getting out of town early to head home and now he was an empty nester. Thanks God! :)
Home sweet home...in Raton, NM! God also took care of us on our way home in a strange way. Our friends from home (the Thomas Family) was driving home that same day from Texas and we realized were just about an hour a head of us in their minivan. We were texting about road conditions and they were on Raton pass and it was terrible and there was an accident right behind them so when they got off the pass they got a hotel in Trinidad. We made the call to not even head to the pass and crept along until we got to the town of Raton. We pulled in to the Holiday Inn Express only to find out shortly after they shut the pass down for the night. We were so thankful to get a room and thankful we didn't keep driving just to have to turn back around. We ended up sharing a room with the Brennings who were a bit behind us to save some money. Good thing we like each other even after a whole week together! :)
Now headed home a day later.
We didn't get to celebrate Easter at church but the girls did decide to make palm trees for their room and had a dance party to island music.
Arizona was good to us again this year! See ya next year.
